PAR WINS AIA 2014 PRESIDENTIAL EMERGING PRACTICE AWARD

The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles presented PAR with the 2014 Presidential Emerging Practice Award, citing the firm’s “notable, innovative achievements in design and service to the profession.” This award is the highest honor that the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles can bestow on an emerging architecture firm for consistently producing innovative architecture.

ISTANBUL DESIGN BIENNIAL

PAR is taking part in The City and the World exhibition opening at the the second Istanbul Design Biennial in Istanbul, Turkey. Curated by the European Center for Architecture and the Chicago Athenaeum, the exhibition showcases the winners of their 2014 International Architecture Awards program, and will be followed by a traveling exhibition inside Europe and the United States. A catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

SCDF AWARDS JURY

Jennifer will be one of the judges for the 2014 Southern California Development Forum Design Awards. The jury will commence in Los Angeles on November 12th and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in December 2014.

IBID. GALLERY LONDON

PAR has been selected by London based IBID. to design their new gallery in Marylebone, London. The project includes adapting a former townhouse into a 350 m2 exhibition and event outpost. The gallery is under construction with an opening during the London Frieze Art Fair in Fall 2014.

PAR WINS 2014 INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARD

The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture have honored our Taichung Cultural Center proposal with a 2014 International Architecture Award. “The International Architecture Awards,” states Chicago Athenaeum President Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, “honor new and cutting-edge design, promoting international architecture to a public audience globally, dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point-of-view.”

The winning projects will be presented in November at “The City and the World” exhibition during the second Istanbul Design Biennial in Istanbul, Turkey, followed by a traveling exhibition inside Europe and the United States. A catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

IBID. GALLERY LA

PAR has been selected by London based IBID. to design their new gallery in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. The project includes adapting two warehouse buildings and a large courtyard into a 12,000 SF exhibition and event outpost. Our design includes mobile furniture elements that will be used flexibly between the galleries and courtyard. Opening Fall 2014.

The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles will honor PAR with the 2014 Presidential Emerging Practice Award stating “notable, innovative achievements in design and service to the profession.” The awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 29, 2014.

The AIA|LA Emerging Practice Award is the highest honor that the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles can bestow on an emerging architecture firm for consistently producing innovative architecture. Educators, civic leaders, media personalities, writers and of course, architects are some of the driving forces that push the architectural profession forward. The 2014 Board, sensitive to the evolution Los Angeles is undergoing, chose to recognize select individuals who take leadership roles in advancing the profession and thus, the City.

JENNIFER TO JUDGE WAN TRANSPORT AWARDS

Jennifer will be one of the judges for the 2014 World Architecture News’ Transport in Architecture Awards. Now in its sixth year, the WAN Awards has evolved into the world’s largest architectural awards program. The jury will commence in London on October 7th and the winner will be announced on November 4th, 2014. To tie in with the theme of urban mobility at this year’s World Architecture Day 2014, WAN will host a special Transport in Architecture Award Winners’ Exhibition in Shanghai this November.

PAR WINS 4 INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS

PAR’s Taichung Cultural Center and Helsinki Central Library each receive double honors at the 7th annual International Design Awards (IDA). The Taichung Cultural Center was awarded 1st place in the conceptual architecture category and 2nd place in the institutional architecture category. The Helsinki Central Library received 2nd place recognition in both the conceptual architecture and institutional categories. Both projects will be celebrated at the IDA gala ceremony later this year.
