WAN 21X21 AWARD

PAR honored to be one of 25 international firms longlisted for World Architecture News 21×21 Award recognizing 21 architects as prospective leaders of the 21st Century. The WAN Award is presided over by an esteemed jury including Peter Murray and Andrew Best of Buro Happold. Winners will be announced in May 2015.

SCI-ARC LIGHT WORK PANEL

On March 17, Jennifer will participate as an invited critic and panelist for Light Work at SCI-Arc, featuring work by environmental systems classes taught by professors Russell Fortmeyer and Ilaria Mazzoleni.

PAR EXHIBITS AT US CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE

For a third year, PAR is featured in the National Emerging Architecture Exhibition at the American Institute of Architects, Center for Architecture. The exhibition promotes compelling work from a rising generation of American architects.

AIA|LA SYMPOSIUM

On February 27, Jennifer will participate in a dialog on “Research, Architecture and Social Impact” at the AIA Los Angeles Powerful Symposium. With an interest in developing new paradigms to shape relations between people and spaces, Jennifer will discuss PAR’s approach to research and practice, her desire to create public architecture in Los Angeles, and her perspective of Los Angeles as a culture of diversity.

IAF 2015 ADVISORY BOARD

Jennifer has been appointed to the India Architecture Festival Advisory Board, and will advise on the curatorial and organizational programming of this year’s festival. Contextualized by India’s emerging economy and radical urbanization, the IAF will provide a global platform for creative discourse on issues of architecture and the city. Featuring juried exhibitions, awards, presentations and seminars, the festival opens in New Delhi in October 2015.

2015 PROGRESSIVE ARCHITECTURE AWARDS JURY

Jennifer was recently appointed to the 62nd Annual Progressive Architecture (P/A) Awards Jury. The P/A Awards recognize unbuilt projects demonstrating overall design excellence and innovation. One thing about the P/A Awards that always changes is the working definition of “progressive”. It is up to the jury to determine what the term means for architecture at a given moment in time.

In the end, the jury awarded 6 projects that resolve diverse programs through incredibly inventive solutions. The winners will be published in the February issue of ARCHITECTURE and honored in New York on February 18, 2015. Congrats to all the winners!

LA DESIGN REVIEW PANEL

In 2015, PAR joins the Los Angeles Department of City Planning Design Review Panel to provide critical advisement on urban design for upcoming projects throughout the city.

PAR PARTICIPATES IN GUGGENHEIM COMPETITION

In Helsinki, we developed together with ARUP, a gathering of eight soft volumes of varying sizes and undulating heights that reflect the surroundings while creating a porous urban condition. The volumes lightly intersect with one another leading to a collection of exhibition spaces surrounded by public gardens. The resulting 12.100 m2 institution is a transparent and light building, clustered between the city and the water, immediately visible to visitors arriving by sea. IBID. GALLERIES IN LONDON AND LOS ANGELES

For IBID. Gallery in Los Angeles, PAR developed a plan for the international gallery to expand into the historic urban fabric of the Los Angeles Arts District, a lowrise area in the eastern part of the city. The project involved transforming an abandoned garage warehouse and large courtyard into a 12,000 sf exhibition and event outpost. Working closely with our client, we were able to preserve the original aura of the structure while at the same time, create a new spatial quality for the gallery. The gallery opened with a painting exhibition by Christian Rosa earlier this Fall.

Our collaboration with IBID. continued in London where we designed their new location in Marylebone. The project involved adapting an early 20th century townhouse into a flexible 300 sm gallery. Our strategy embraced the historical character of the existing building while inserting contemporary elements that transform the space into two main exhibition spaces. The gallery opened with a group show in conjunction with the London Frieze Art Fair in October 2014.

JENNIFER INVITED TO ARCHITIZER A+ AWARDS JURY

Jennifer joins an international jury of architects, cultural leaders and developers to judge the 2015 Architizer A+Awards. A distinguished jury including Barry Bergdoll, Steven Holl, Rosalie Genevro, Christopher Hawthorne, Sou Fujimoto and Joseph Grima will commence in Februrary and the winner will be announced at the A+Awards Gala in May 2015.
