In Athens, we developed together with ARUP, the adaptation of a former grain silo into a 14.000 m2 Museum of Underwater Antiquities. Conceived through a spatial inversion, a system of voids introduce daylight to public areas whilst engaging the surrounding urban context. The proposal was exhibited thru May 31st in Greece. PAR honored to be one of 50 international firms longlisted for World Architecture News 21×21 Award which recognizes 21 outstanding architects as forward thinking architectural leaders of the 21st Century. The WAN Award is presided over by an esteemed jury including Martha Thorne, Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Ma Yangsong, Founding Partner of MAD Architects. Winners will be announced at a private exhibition held on May 22nd in partnership with ARUP in London.

Our Helsinki Library proposal has won an AIA New York 2013 Merit Award for its “scenographic magnificence that is technically and environmentally convincing” according to AIA jury. We are thrilled to be part of the 2013 Design Awards Exhibition which honors the architects, clients, and consultants who work together to achieve design excellence. According to master planner Jacques Herzog, EXPO 2015 will overturn the concept of monumentality: in place of giant structures, Milan will build a new landscape of monumental lightness and natural beauty. In the spirit of this plan, PAR is participating in a competition to design the 23.500 m2 Padiglione Italia.

For a second year in a row, PAR has won a National Emerging Architecture Award from the American Institute of Architects. We are currently taking part in the annual awards exhibition which promotes compelling work of the rising generation of American architects. The exhibition opened on March 20th at the American Center for Architecture.

PAR WINS AIA NY MERIT AWARD

Our zero carbon proposal for the Helsinki Library has won an AIA New York Merit Award for its “scenographic magnificence that is technically and environmentally convincing” according to AIA jury. Developed in collaboration with ARUP, we reinterpret the oculus of the Pantheon when designing a high performance facade for the challenging Finnish climate. The concave building geometry amplifies daylight while rooflines are optimized for snow recycling. ArchDaily covers the project.

PAR’s finalist proposal for the 120.000 m2 Keelung Harbor Gateway is up for it’s third exhibition in D3 Unbuilt Visions. D3 promotes critical architectural debate by acknowledging excellence in speculative projects. The exhibit provides an opportunity to engage with architecture at the conceptual stage — recognizing work that offers a critical contribution to worldwide architectural discourse.
